Excuses, excuses ..........

Photos - Curtain Fig Tree - Southern Tablelands - Oct 07 - Fascinating!!

So - I never did get back to posting any more photos of the Tablelands trip!!! So - I know I said I would!!! So - the taxman cameth, saweth, and bledeth!!!

So - enough excuses!!

I'm not going to make any more promises about the frequency of my future posting, because Monday I'm off "down south" and will be there until after the New Year. Basically as soon as I get back here, I'm off to work on Thursday Island for six weeks and won't be anywhere near this computer to do any posting!!

I'm back here toward the end of February, but my lovely Anne arrives then for a couple of weeks holiday. I won't be posting while she's around to keep me otherwise entertained - this lady and I can sit and talk for ages on anything we want to - so that precludes talking to myself on this blog!!

I'll endeavour to keep up with my favourites while I'm away - (internet access at work, not advisable to use for posting to blogs, though) so it's hoo roo from me for now!!

Have a great Christmas - I wish you the best of everything you wish for yourselves for 2008!!

Talk to you sometime in March/April!!!

Digressing ........

Photo - Milla Milla Falls, Southern Tablelands - Oct 07

Having just read freefalling's attempts to pass of to her hubby the blame for her own disorganisation (?), I am compelled to try and defend myself from blame for similar slack tendencies!!!

Try as I might I cannot get to posting anything as straight forward as the joy of that holiday (see previous post) - however in my defence, I've been somewhat distracted by other, more mundane things!

I went to a Tax Accountant on Monday - first time for seven years, (for goodness sake don't tell the Tax Office - I'm sure this stone will be well and truly bled by the system) - so that's my excuse for being such a slack a*se!!

Hang in there, though - there's some more good stuff to come!!!

That Holiday .....

You may think, because I haven't added anything here, that I didn't enjoy Anne's and my holiday a few weeks ago!!!!

Nothing could be further from the truth!!!

I enjoyed it so much that I've been trying (in my head) to come up with a post that will show properly how enjoyable it was. Obviously I have yet to satisfy my own requirements in this regard, so you guys are running a long way behind!!

I'll do some work on it today and hopefully give some indications!!!

C ya later!!!

Getting Older/Celebrating

Thanks to my wonderful niece - and the good folk I work with every day - yesterday was spent constantly being reminded of the fact that there may well be only one other person in our staff of over 200 who might be older than me!!! How tragic is that????
Still, it means that I'm nothing if not persistent!!! Who else out there has worked for the same employer for 41 years, I ask??? Must be my anal retentiveness coming through!!!!

I'm going to be off air for a while soon - what's new you may ask? My lovely Anne arrives on Thursday night for ten wonderful days!!! It's our anniversary, so I've booked us a wonderful holiday in the Carrington penthouse suite up on the Tablelands at Yungaburra. The place is called Williams Lodge and has been around since 1911!! Like everything, it's only a short drive from here, (75 minutes), and the Tablelands is like another world - it's always less humid than Cairns, and many people live up there to avoid just that. (For those of you who know Toowoomba - it's a lot like their climate up there!!!!!)

So, we are off up there to laze around and indulge ourselves - only for one night mind you, but it promises to be absolutely decadent. We plan to do a tour of the crater lakes and numerous waterfalls to be seen on the southern Tableland, so hopefully will have some decent photos to show you on our return!!

I'll see you all sometime next week!!! Ciao!!!

At last!!

It seem's like an age and a half since I did anything here except look to see who's been looking!!!

When last I talked, I was heading off for a long weekend in Brisbane with my lovely Anne!! Attending the official forum was of course part of the trip as well - but it paled compared to the time spent with my beloved!!!

The Executive Suite was pretty damn good - and did have a view over the Brisbane River towards Southbank and the Performance Centre, where we were booked to see "Ying Tong"!!! Remember?
I gotta tell you that this show was excellent - brilliantly acted (by only four men), well written, and as funny as the Goons - but it also had an edge to it that well illustrated the mental turmoil and difficulty that Spike Milligan lived with for many years!!

I recommended this show to you before I had seen it - but now having seen it live - I strongly recommend that you take every opportunity to see it when it comes anywhere near your place of abode!!

Since I've ben back in the lovely North - the weather has been simply stunning ....... the onset of spring makes this part of the world so delightful and livable that I can't imagine how I managed to not live here for so long!! I've been working, of course, but really just waiting in anticipation of the weekends and days off when I can indulge in the joys of Trinity Beach!! It's so wonderful, that last Sunday at around 10 am, I actually was enticed into the water!! Simply idyllic!!

Today has been nearly as good, but there was a bit more breeze this morning, so I was content to just walk the length of the beach and wade knee high in the breakers. That was so enoyable that I decided to hang around and have lunch by the water!! A steak burger and cappuchino never tasted so good, I tell you!!!

After I'd stuffed my face, I wasn't sure how I'd fill in my afternoon, so I decided to go for a drive up to Lake Morris - Copperlode Dam - supplies Cairns's water supply. Only 20 km from the centre of town and you get to see sights like these!!!

Don't you wish you were joining the throng of thousands who are moving up here????

Travelling

I have to tell you that I'm off "down south" next Wednesday evening - the company's paying, so I'm making the most of the opportunity and seeing my lovely Anne for 4 days!!

It's her birthday in early September, so we are off to see a stage production called Ying Tong next Friday evening!!

All you Goons fans out there should make some endeavour to see this show!!

I'll let you know next time I'm on my blog, how it was!! In the meantime, be jealous Moriarty!!!

Even more reason to be alive .........

Today has been stunning here - beautiful gentle sea breeze, bright sunshine, calm waters ...... I do like this place!!!

Like a fool, I went to get a paper this morning and didn't take a camera! So I sat and read that paper on the beachfront, thinking how great it would be to have a photo of the serenity of Trinity Beach this day!!!!!!
Anne took this shot back in June ..............The white building in the distance is the famous Yorkey's Knob Boating Club - a mere walk around the headland from my bit of the world!!!! ............... Yes, winter time! ............ tough life, isn't it!!?

I'm not so sure ......

Not sure that I'm real happy about how working for a living interferes with the opportunity to spend time on this blog!!!! Nor am I sure whether I prefer this format to the original one!!?? ........ Indecision is a terrible thing - but when you are a died in the wool Libran, what more can you expect????

Looks like it'll be weekend blogging only for me - maybe .......

Yup

Yup freefalling - it's me!! UR!!!
Thanks for the inspiration!!

Makes ya glad to be alive

A long time friend has recently returned from another overseas trip. She has a great love for Egypt, and sent me these photos of sunrise over the Nile near Edfu.

Thanks Tracey - they are glorious!!!

First Endeavours

Well - this is a completely new concept for this tired old traveller!!

I can say that this is my first try at this "blogging", so I apologise in advance if you and I find it boring!!

I hope that in time I can get some stuff on here that might be of vague interest to anybody who chooses to read it. In the meantime I'm just going to see how this pans out.

Unbelievably it's a damp drizzly morning in my part of the world. Not an unusual circumstance considering I live in the Tropics of Queensland - but it does give me time to muck around with this!!

Here's a picture of the view I get to enjoy daily.
